Getting into the routine again...

Over the years I have learned that routines make everyone happier. They may not always love school, but when we are on a regular school schedule, life in general seems to go more smoothly for the whole family. So, our second week here, we sat down and got to work. The first week really was light, but it helped make things feel like we were getting back to normal again.
With school tables still in transit, along with much of our other stuff, we are working at the dinning room table for now. It isn't ideal as the shelves are all the way in the other room, but it will work for now. This also means that books get piled till the end of the day and the table gradually gets crowded as the day goes on.
We are having to adjust a little, as before we were doing school work Mondays through Thursdays. Now, since the work week here starts on Sunday, we are doing school Sundays through Wednesdays. Actually, for September we will also be doing school on Thursdays as well to make up for some of the time we missed during the preparations for the move. (I was planning on only doing this with the older two, but this week Cai had a fit and brought me his books and insisted on having his school time too!)
Another new part of our routine, is going to dinner twice a week at the Embassy. The kids can run and play, while Mommy and Daddy sit on the patio and relax. The kids like it best when their friends are there, and it is nice to spend time with the other families, but some nights there aren't many other people there and Mommy doesn't mind the quiet.
We like letting them run in the open and we know they can't get out of the compound walls, so they ave some freedom to roam for a while.
On these nights they also have free cold bottled water so we can keep everyone well hydrated. I think we are settling in nicely.
