Miami to Kuwait
The last few weeks have been a roller coaster to say the least, but we here here now. The trip here was an adventure. We arrived at the airport early only to realize our flight left 2 hours later than we thought. Daddy took people for a couple of walks and we were thankful that grouchy, restless Cai was able to catch a short nap in Daddy's arms.
We had a relatively relaxed lunch before the flight. Tek and Se sat together right in front of Mommy and Cai. Jae sat in the next row back and Daddy back a few rows further. Towards the end of the flight Jael was chatting with the gentleman beside her. He turned out to be a pilot. Not only that, he was to be one of the pilots flying us to Kuwait that night!(and he remembered her as we were getting off in Kuwait and had wings set aside just for her)
When we landed, our lay over began. We spent almost as much time in the airports as we did on the actual plane in the air. Just so you know 8 hours is a long time for anyone to wait at the airport. When the contents of backbacks were no longer enough, Daddy broke down and got out a laptop and pulled up netflixs.
When we finally boarded the plane, we told the kids they had to sleep before they could watch any movies. Saoirse immediately curled up to get comfortable. Cai was going to fight it tooth and nail and was expressing himself loudly, till he noticed Jae reading one of the flight emergency instruction cards. He decided he needed to read one too. After looking it over he droped it to the floor and curled up as well. They were both out before the plane even left the gate. Jae, Tek and Daddy were out shortly after we were in the air.
As people woke up they each started watching movies or playing games on the individual flight screens (they were the biggest hit of the whole trip). Upon landing we were met at the gate by a driver who walked us through customs and baggage claim and brough us to our new home! Yea! We're home!
The house is large. The front door opens into the living room/dinning room/family room area. We currently plan on spliting the family room in half and putting the schoolroom/playroom on the far side away from the door.
The living room may be kept more formal, or if the schoolroom is too cramped, we may put toys there.
The dinning room is spacious with a table big enough to feed extended family when they come. The eat in kitchen seems sizable, but we'll see how it holds everything once all our stuff arrives. We also have an extra freezer under the stairs for more food storage.
On the second floor is another living area, that we originally thought would make a good school room, but now I think it may be too small. Instead I may use it as a sewing room when our household effects arrive.
The house has enough bedrooms that each kiddo gets their own room (much to their disappointment) which has made the last few bed times go so much smoother. David did a walk though video shortly after we got here if you would like to see.
