More about Cai - part 1
After recieving several requests for more pitures of Cai, we decided to take some special for here and you can have at it. I'll even add in the ones I forgot to post for his first hair cut (sorry, yes he got his hair cut at 2.5 months and I didn't post but here you go).

Little Dancer
Jael's first ballet recital was yesterday. She did a good job watching her teacher who was behind the curtain :) Jae is the 3rd to run out and the one the camera was mostly centered on. I filmed this balancing the camera on my knee while holding Cai so I appologize for the tilting and such...but you get the picture.

Tekla's Assignment: Improve the following story by adding details.
Pat built a house. The house collapsed.
Tekla's story (as dictated to Mom):
Pat built a house. It was a brick house. It had flowers beside the house. It had a red mailbox. The inside had a pink door, white toilet, no stools, and a glass grey computer. He built it 5 days ago. The house collapsed because a tornado knocked it down. That made him cry.

Purple is faries, flower, a lollipop
Pink is a horse that is white

Pink is music of a trumpet

Just when you think they arn't listening....
Jael and Tekla were playing legos and I overheard what they were making. I tried to get the whole story but as soon as they realized I was listening, their creativity seemed to freeze. Also, Saoirse wanted to help in the filming so it was a bit shaky, but here it is none the less.
And some supporting pictures including Saoirse's contribution.
Edited to clarify: I had been working on the computer, not paying much attention to what the girls were saying. During their chatter my ears perked at the word "Tabernacle". Then I started really listening. Tekla had built a tabernacle and was explaining where you go in and "this is where you stand". Then Jael was telling her about the Moses she had made. She gave a brief explanation of him as a baby, then was telling about him leading the Israelites. She talked about the burning bush, God leading them in a pillar of fire, and God coming down on the mountain to talk to Moses. The even talked some about what "mana" must have tasted like. I was very impressed. Jael had told me this was her favorite story in the past, but I hadn't realized how much she had already picked up.
Today I was thinking about my own memory of Bible stories. Growing up, it seemed that I remembered more Bible Stories than most kids my age. Now, I see my girls playing out those stories and I think, they have heard so many stories so many times they may actually give me a challenge playing some of the Bible trivia games we have sitting the closet. We hadn't pulled them out because they weren't ready and they weren't too fun for just Mommy and Daddy to play alone. Perhaps it is time to give them a go.

Memorial Day Sight Seeing
Since Daddy had the day off Monday, we decided to take a trip to Skyline Drive. It was overcast, with rain in the afternoon, but it was still pretty. It was nice to get out in the fresh air and do a little walking.
Jael's reading progress has improved leaps and bounds this year. She isn't always eager to read in front of others, but the camera is different. When I got the camera out to film her, she was so excited, but I can tell she was a bit nervous when I started filming. She still did great.
Soon, I'll have to film Tekla and her reading. She is now reading CVC words and several sight words well. If she dosn't get distracted with the pictures or other things going around the room, she can read her school books very well.
